skip the queues’ now

Through the Paytm Mobile App, Delhi Metro has introduced QR code-based ticketing, which is a convenient choice for commuters and improves the “ease of booking tickets” for travelers throughout its network.

At the Metro Bhawan, this project was launched by Dr. Vikas Kumar, the managing director of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), in the presence of Mr. Abhay Sharma, the chief business officer of Paytm.

“The introduction of QR-based ticketing for all corridors of the Delhi Metro via Paytm will facilitate efficient and hassle-free movement for lakhs of metro commuters in the National Capital,” stated Dr. Vikas Kumar. We have recently taken a number of steps to encourage digital ticketing, demonstrating our commitment to the “Digital India” project, which aims to provide government services electronically with improved internet infrastructure and inclusivity,” he added.

“Using this facility, Delhi Metro Rail passengers will be able to skip the queues to buy tickets,” Sharma said.

With these user-friendly digital means of booking tickets, commuters can book tickets anywhere that is easier, faster and convenient and does not require physical visit to ticket counters or to stand in queues.

This new feature allows users to purchase a mobile QR ticket from the ‘Metro’ area of the Paytm app. On the day of travel, they can easily enter their station of entrance and destination. In order to continue their journey, passengers simply hold their smartphone in front of the QR code scanner at the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gates at both entry and exit stations. This facility was previously only accessible via the Airport Express Line.

DMRC is actively diversifying ticket procurement channels using digital modalities such as UPI, credit/debit cards, and online banking. DMRC recently launched a number of initiatives, including QR ticketing via the Mobile App, Ticket Vending Machines, Ticket Windows, WhatsApp, and others, all of which support common digital payment methods.
