Western leaders send strong message of support to Israel

In a joint statement released on Tuesday, US President Joe Biden, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni expressed support for Israel.

In a joint statement released on Tuesday, the leaders of the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Italy reiterated their “steadfast and united support for the State of Israel” as the Israel-Hamas conflict rages on with over 1600 casualties on both the Palestinian and Israeli sides.

The statement also included the “unequivocal condemnation of Hamas and its reprehensible acts of terrorism” from the leaders, including US President Joe Biden, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

Today, we — President Macron of France, Chancellor Scholz of Germany, Prime Minister Meloni of Italy, Prime Minister Sunak of the United Kingdom, and President Biden of the United States — express our steadfast and united support to the State of Israel, and our unequivocal condemnation of Hamas and its appalling acts of terrorism,” the joint statement read.

The leaders asserted in the statement that the terrorist actions of Hamas have no justification, no legitimacy, and must be universally condemned. “There is never any justification for terrorism,” the statement noted.

The world has watched in horror in recent days as Hamas terrorists have killed families in their homes, killed over 200 young people attending a music festival, and kidnapped elderly women, children, and entire families who are now being held as hostages,” it said.

“Our nations will aid Israel in its attempts to protect its nation and its citizens from such atrocities. We further stress that Israel’s enemies must not take advantage of these attacks at this time to their advantage, the leaders stated in the joint statement.

“We all advocate equal justice and freedom for Israelis and Palestinians alike and acknowledge the justifiable aspirations of the Palestinian people. But be clear: Hamas does not reflect those goals and it provides

Nothing but more violence and bloodshed for the Palestinian people,” the statement continued.

The leaders declared in the statement, “Over the coming days, we will remain united and coordinated, together as allies, and as common friends of Israel, to ensure Israel can defend itself, and to ultimately create the framework for a peaceful and integrated Middle East region.

“We make clear that the terrorist actions of Hamas have no justification, no legitimacy, and must be universally condemned,” they continued.

The Gaza Strip’s ruling organization, Hamas, surprised and attacked Israel’s southern regions early on Saturday. The Israeli army asserted that it had recovered control of all Gaza border communities after more than 50 hours of firefighting.
